Semi Formal 2017!

Friday, April 21st was Zeta’s annual Semi Formal! This year, Semi was held at historic Rucker Place in downtown Birmingham. Sisters and their dates enjoyed music, food, and live hula dancers! (Some even joined in on the hula dancing!) With finals coming up and the semester quickly coming to the end, it was great to have a fun night out with sisters. We already can’t wait for semi next year! Special thanks to Maddie Thompson, Noel Espinal, and Taylor Sexton for their incredibly hard work & planning for this event!!

Mr. Samford Recap

One of our chapter’s favorite events has come and gone, Mr. Samford. On Tuesday, April 4th Delta Psi hosted our 9th annual Mr. Samford “Classic Man” competition. Thirteen men from across campus competed to be crowned Mr. Samford for 2017. The night began by the contestants being judged in casual wear for first impression. Then, they competed in the swimwear division where hilarious floats were modeled and, believe it or not, a wet suit. The next portion of the show was, my personal favorite, talent. The talents consisted of singing, rapping, dancing, sandwich making, and even a performance of the recorder to the tune Wrecking Ball. Lastly, the men competed in formal wear where their personality was able to shine during Q &A. The night ended with our amazing emcees Richard Barnes and Mattie Eubanks entertaining us while we waited on the results and our Co-Directors Lauren Mouchette and Caroline Crawford education the audience on Breast Cancer. This year Corbin Meredith, representing AOPI, won and is now the new Mr. Samford for 2017.

Delta Psi wants to thank everyone who came out to support our philanthropy event this year. The stands were packed with students and faculty from all over campus. With everyone’s participation, the Mr. Samford event raised over $7,000 for our Philanthropy, Breast Cancer Education and Awareness. We are so thankful for everyone’s love and support and are already excited to see who our Mr. Samford will be for 2018!

get ready – it’s time for mr. samford!

YAY!! The day we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived – MR. SAMFORD!! This is ZTA’s big philanthropic event for the spring semester. This event is a “pageant” for some of Samford’s finest men. They will be competing against each other to gain the title of a “Classic Man” – such as our beloved Mr. Beeson. This “pageant” is sure to be a hilarious show that you won’t want to miss! Tickets are only $5 and they are still available for purchase! You can get them from any Zeta on campus or at the door to the event.

The real meaning behind this event is Zeta Tau Alpha’s philanthropy – breast cancer education and awareness. Money raised during the event will all be donated towards our philanthropy. One out of 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and 1 out of 67 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer in their life. These statistics are astonishing. Even if we personally haven’t been effected with this deadly cancer, many of us know at least someone who has. Here in ZTA, we like to Think Pink. Who do you Think Pink for? Is it your mom, your sister, your nana, or your neighbor? All of us have a reason to Think Pink!! We can all Think Pink for our feature children and grandchildren.

Today, Tuesday, April 4th, we would LOVE to see you at Mr. Samford 2017 – A Classic Man. Date Night attire, Seibert Gym, 7pm. See you there and remember to Think Pink!!

samford gives back

Samford Gives Back is one of the best Saturdays of the semester! This year, about 900 Samford students (1/6 of the campus population!!) went out into the community to serve in areas surrounding our Birmingham home. Zeta sent our girls to several different volunteer sites in the city including NorthStar, CHIPS, and First Light.

HUGE shoutout to Emily Schneider for organizing Zeta’s Samford Gives Back teams!

derby days

Zeta LOVES Sigma Chi Derby Days! This past week was filled with activities each day to benefit the fraternity’s philanthropy. Zetas had so much fun competing in penny wars, dominating in field day, attending the crawfish boil, playing with puppies, and more. Check out memories from the week below ::
